RIPLEY HARRIERS S.C.
"THE PRIDE OF DERBYSHIRE"
Ripley Harriers s.c. were originally formed in
1981 during the height of the "mod revival". After a couple of years members gradually drifted away and by the mid 80's the
club had folded or rather retired to be ressurected in 2002. The late 90's saw one or two of the old lads getting scoots again,
we bumped into each other at local pubs or soul nights and some joined other clubs. December 2001 saw us getting some fliers
printed and a few phone calls made, then we arranged a meeting place and date and hoped for the best, in mid January 2002
we had our first meeting and got 16 members, not a bad start we thought but things went from strength to strength and we now
have around 40 members. We can be seen at most local scooter do's and events and there's usually some of us on most
of the national rallies, we also put our own annual do on in january. We are a pretty diverse bunch with ages ranging
from 18 to 40 something, we have skinheads, mods and even some "normal" people. We have good relations with the other local
clubs and often ride over to their meetings during the summer and we are also affiliated to the recently formed East
Midland Scooter alliance. We meet every sunday from 8pm onwards at the "Out Of Town" Butterly Hill, Ripley. Anyone is welcome
to come over and join us for a drink and a chat, whether you ride a Vespa, Lambretta, a twist and go or even just
have an interest in scooters feel free to pop in. We have no politics, just a love of scooters and music, oh and more
importantly beer!
